The Oriel Wind Farm team remain committed to the project’s delivery

On the 11th of May 2023, the Irish Government announced the provisional results of the first offshore auction in Ireland. Unfortunately, Oriel was not one of the projects that was successful. However, the joint venture developers, Parkwind and ESB, remain committed to the development of the Project and are now exploring alternative routes to market.

Oriel can create a significant step forward in Ireland’s commitment to renewable energy sources. The project team has completed comprehensive site studies and teamed up with some of the world’s leading suppliers to develop and build the wind farm. The Oriel team is now considering alternative options for the sale of the electricity from the wind farm.

“While the Oriel project was not awarded a contract in this auction round, we believe that it is a good project and will ultimately play its part in generating the renewable electricity we need in Ireland” said Garrett Connell, Parkwind Country Manager for Ireland. “we will continue to progress the project and are already actively investigating alternative routes to market.”

The Oriel project retains all its obtained rights for the project including the Maritime Area Consent and grid connection assessment.
